Global Capability Center (GCC) Setup & Outsourcing

Throughout my career, I have established and managed technology centers in India for leading global companies, as well as outsourced development and testing for my own startups. My experience includes building high-performing engineering teams, setting up legal and operational infrastructure, and ensuring seamless global collaboration between India-based centers and U.S. headquarters.

Xylem Water Solutions India Pvt. Ltd (2017–2022)

Xylem’s mission, “Let’s Solve Water,” reflects its commitment to freshwater lifecycle management— from groundwater extraction and transport to water treatment, flood control, and environmental monitoring. After acquiring Sensus, which had previously acquired my second startup, Verdeeco, Xylem expanded its smart water technology solutions.

At Xylem, I led a 200+ member engineering team responsible for the development of AI-driven IoT platforms and enterprise software applications. The teams were structured into three core groups:

  • Global Engineering Team – Developing AI-powered solutions for water management
  • Solutions Development – Creating new digital tools for smart water infrastructure
  • Services Department (NOC & 24×7 Support) – Ensuring seamless customer operations and troubleshooting

Key Contributions:

✔ Scouted, secured, and helped set up office premises while managing all legal entity formation requirements

✔ Established hiring processes in Bangalore’s competitive tech market to onboard top engineering talent

✔ Designed and implemented a hybrid agile development process, ensuring transparent, high-quality bi-weekly deliverables

✔ Led requirements gathering, prototype development, and customer validation to drive product success

✔ Secured executive approval and funding for new software initiatives

✔ Managed teams to successfully deliver seven production applications now actively used by Xylem customers

Trilliant Networks (2004–2009)

Trilliant Networks specializes in smart grid and energy infrastructure solutions. I was hired to oversee software development in Granby, Quebec, and systems integration across U.S. utility customers. As the sole U.S.-based lead, I handled customer installations, software upgrades, and new feature development.

Due to growing customer demands, I was tasked with establishing an Offshore Development Center (ODC) in India, which rapidly scaled to deliver a new “killer application” every quarter. A major highlight was leading the successful integration of Trilliant’s systems with HydroOne’s infrastructure, collaborating closely with Capgemini as the systems integrator.

Key Contributions:

✔ Established a fully operational Offshore Development Center (ODC), including software development, QA, and Tier-1/Tier-2 support teams

✔ Developed a 24×7 help desk to enhance global support and customer service

✔ Led the integration of Trilliant’s applications with various Customer Information Systems (CIS)

✔ Spearheaded the data acquisition system integration with eMeter’s MDM and Ontario’s utility CIS system
