Hi, I'm

Venki Ramachandran

As the Chief Data Scientist at HydroPoint,  a water-conservation company, I am an AI thought leader, investor in product engineering companies and sustainable  clean-energy start-ups. Over the years, I have led multiple software development teams, defined integrations across many public sector utilities and worked with the leading Systems Integration companies like Capgemini, Accenture, defined product vision and managed its development to meet the needs of our utility customers.  Raised in Bombay, India, I moved to the USA for my M.Sc. in Industrial Engg after my B.E in Mech Engg. Since then I have worked for many large Fortune 500 companies in the Bay Area and India.

At HydroPoint, I manage a team of data scientists, and data analysts to create and maintain the company-wide platform that contains business/device data, and customer data and we use that to drive insights and sound decision-making for new feature offerings. I have incorporated many AI tools for analyzing our potential customer’s enterprise irrigation portfolio, sped up savings analysis, and created outcome calculators that are used extensively by Sales and Operations. More details on the Data Science Projects Page.

I have two software start-ups to my credit with successful exits. I was:

  • Founder/CEO at WACS (rechristened to Ecologic Analytics) acquired by L+G.
  • Co-Founder/VP at Verdeeco, acquired by Sensus, acquired by Xylem

On the technical side of things, I am passionate about building enterprise AWS applications using the latest AI technologies, and python based tech-stack, for the clean energy domain that can make utilities and ultimately people’s lives simpler.

As a personal goal to keep up skilling and learning, I have completed a:

  1. CTO Certification Program from The Wharton School (Dec-2022). Electives:
    • Scaling a Startup to be a Unicorn
    • Executive Presence
    • Business Insights from data
  2. M.Sc degree from LJMU in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. (Feb-2023)
